Lincoln "K" Technical Questions

32' Lincoln KA won't start
Author Last Post

I always wonder why posters ask for help, then don't return to the forum for 4 months. Odd. Probably makes folks think why should I go to the trouble.

Sorry for the delay in responding! However, I did solve the "Not starting problem" by replacing the battery as the original battery was defective with a bad cell!.

I do have another issue though. I think I have a clogged gas filter which I think is attached to the gas pump on the left lower side of the engine. Going to be difficult to access but I am hoping that I can take off the glass bowl by unscrewing it? and clean the

washable screen filter. If you have any knowledge on how to do this, I would appreciate any advise.

Thanks!

Jim do you get any sound at all when pressing the start button? Do you have a starter switch that you can activate by hand when connected across the starter solenoid? Before removing the starter you should do some electrical checks at the solenoid. Are you sure that the engine is free to turn over? If both the engine turns and the solenoid connects the power leads then you probably should remove the starter.

Bill

Does it turn over or do anything when you cross the terminals on the starter?

Battery connections disconnected and cleaned and battery charged to 6.6 volts but car will not turn over. Power is getting to the starter. Wondering what else I can do before I remove the starter. Thanks!
